Police in the southern English town of Southampton are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery in the area, according to the local newspaper The Southern Daily Echo.

Police sources told the paper that on the 2nd November this year, a local man was approached by three youths who threatened him with a knife, demanding money. The attempted theft was rumbled however, and the three crooks fled the scene empty-handed. The incident occurred on Drayton Close, in the town’s Weston area. The youths are described as all male and aged in their mid to late teens (around 15-19 years of age).

Police issues an e-fit visual mockup of one of the assailants, who was described as wearing a black zip-up hoodie with the hood wrapped tightly around his head.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire Constabulary, which manages police operations in Southampton told the Echo: “We have descriptions of the three boys.

“The first is described as being white, slim, around 5ft 8ins tall and wearing a black hoodie; this is the boy in the e-fit.

“The second is also described as being white, around 5ft 8ins tall and wearing a hoodie.

“And the final boy is described as being white, of stocky build, around 5ft 6ins tall and wearing a distinctive black jacket with a red chevron on the back and dark jeans.

“Do you recognise the e-fit or perhaps know someone with the same jacket described above?”

Officers are encouraging witnesses to the attempted crime to come forward with statements. Anyone who may have seen anything is advised to call the 101 non-emergency number for the police and give reference 44190393689, or to keep guaranteed anonymity, they can alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 (in the UK only).
