BLOGGER REGONITION AWARD: HEMNA awarded peer recognition gong for blogging services

VIJAY SHAH

On the 7th January, 2020, HEMNA received the ‘Blogger Recognition Award’ from story author and blogger Sara Altaf Khan, the wordsmith behind ‘Myths-Facts-Journal’. The blog is a diary and collection of stories based on Sara’s love for her husband, an Indian Armed Forces officer who served in the Kashmir region and who won many awards of gallantry for his military service. Based in the USA, but originally from India, Sara also shares stories and memories of the Kashmir Valley, a beautiful but war-torn area.

Sara has been very supportive of both myself and the HEMNA blog since she joined the HEM Community and is an adept and thoughtful writer who strongly believes in true romance and humanist values. I am very grateful and thrilled to be nominated for this outstanding peer-awarded accolade. As with many of these sorts of awards, there are some rules that come with the nomination, which I have detailed below.

THE RULES ARE GIVEN BELOW:

1. Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

2. Write a post to show your award.

3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.

4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

5. Select up to fifteen bloggers you want to give this award to.

6. Comment on each blog to let them know that you’ve nominated them, and provide a link to the post you’ve created.

HEMNA started up almost eight years ago, in April of 2012, as the Half-Eaten Mind. We began in the London district of Stratford, home of the new West Ham Stadium and Westfield Stratford City E20 shopping centre. The name came from a saying that my ex often used, and it was a news and personal blog to share current affairs to readers on the web. Over the years, the format and design, as well as the name and physical location, of this blog has changed quite a bit, but our original intention of being a news magazine has remained at the core, sharing news stories, features and other forms of writing with the world, keeping the essential journalistic values of impartiality, accuracy and reliability at the forefront, especially now when we are being flooded with questionable sites and ‘fake news’.

My two pieces of advice to new bloggers is to firstly not think that your blogging idea will not work, or that no-one will read your brand new blog. The Internet is a place of diverse voices, thoughts, ideas and beliefs, and no matter how niche or unusual your blog, people will soon find it and you will build yourself a strong following, as well as make many new friends along the way.

Secondly, social media is your ally. Even if you cannot stand the likes of Facebook, Twitter et cetera, social networks provide an invaluable and popular tool to bring your new site to prospective fans. You can customise your blog’s page any way you like, and you can see your posts shared and even become viral, which does wonders for your viewing stats.

Now, I am going to nominate ten bloggers for the Blogger Recognition Award, who have been suppportive and influential in the Community. Acceptance is not compulsory, but I am honoured to have had the chance to see your amazing posts.

A massive congrats to the following:

  1. The Ju Photography
  2. AshiAkira’s Blog
  3. susiesopinions
  4. Invisibly Me
  5. YoCollector – Romania
  6. off the leash
  7. CHIAVARI EMOZIONI tra Caruggi e Portici
  8. Purplerays
  9. the drunken cyclist
  10. Superduque

Once again, a massive shoutout to Sara for considering me and I wish you all a great weekend and January!
