SOUTHERN THAILAND: Soldier shoots two colleagues dead

A soldier in the restive south of Thailand has gunned down two of his armed forces colleagues, killing them both, Singapore’s Strait Times reports today. According to the report, received via the international news agency Agence France Presse (AFP), the soldier has now been charged with murder after shooting two other soldiers at an army barracks in the south of Thailand, home to a Malay minority and a religiously and ethnically inspired insurgency that has claimed 6,300 lives over the past decade. RED NOSE DAY FIASCO: Norwich fundraiser sparks off police manhunt

A fundraiser collecting charitable donations for Red Nose Day in the eastern British city of Norwich got more than he bargained for when he inadvertently set off a six hour long police manhunt, reports the Eastern Daily Press. The man, who was not identified in the Eastern Daily Press news report, took it upon himself to dress up as a British soldier, complete with camouflaged uniform and carrying around what appeared to be a rifle.
