BLOG OF THE YEAR 2013: HEM gets award nomination

Vijay Shah

It’s about time to prise open the dusty old awards cabinet and give it a spring (or should I say, winter) clean, as the Half-Eaten Mind has been nominated for another blogging award. It is our first one since August 2013, and just in good time as we see out the last few weeks of 2013 and a new year and new opportunities beckon. Therefore I am proud to announce that HEM is now a proud nominee of the “Blog of the Year 2013” – thanks to creative poetry/photography blogger Just Patty of “Petite Magique“, based in the Netherlands. We is well chuffed, to use a local modern Cockney expression.

The Blog of the Year award was created by the awarding mastermind behind the blog “the Thought Palette”. It’s quite different from previous blogging awards we’ve been picking up. Think back to your nursery/kindergarten days, when you were given gold star stickers to pin to a chart every time you were cranking out the good behaviour; keeping on the sweet side of the teacher. Well, this award works on a similar premise.

There are six stars to collect in total. When you are first nominated, you’re started off with one star. Further nominations mean more stars. So you just need to be nominated six times to receive the full whack of appreciative celestial goodness. What is really good about the Blog of the Year award is that it means no duplication for nominations for different types of awards. This translates into bloggers being able to accept the award numerous times.

Petite Magique is run by Patty, whose blog has an emphasis on writing, poetry and photography. She also does an excellent side trade in creating modified images overlaid with her poetry, which has been one of my inspirations for creating my own images featured earlier on the Half-Eaten Mind. Despite her poetry, Patty does not consider herself a fully-fledged poetress as such, more of an artist of words and visuals whose writings are  scrambled thoughts combined with her own taken photos. Amazingly, despite turning down the ‘poet’ label (but then labels are just that…labels), she is also the inventor of Poetrics – a new form of poetry combining traditional penned musings of the inner state of the mind with powerfully emotive song lyrics.

She has an incredible way with words and images, and I do highly recommend you visiting her blog. There’s a lot of beautiful imagery to lift your mood and her poetry is great to unwind to on a quiet night in with a cup of coffee or a gentle glass of wine or two.

Her blog is called Petite Magique (‘a little magic’ in French) and you can reach it immediately via this link:

Her biggest passion is writing fantasy novels, with a ‘Young Adult Fantasy Trilogy’ lined up for April 2014. I certainly wish Patty all the world’s successes in her publishing venture and am very thankful for being selected as a nominee for the ‘Blog of the Year 2013’ award.
