PHOTO MOMENT: New Twitter header image

Vijay Shah

Here is a quick announcement from the office of the Half-Eaten Mind. I have just created a new Twitter header image in collaboration with the photo-editing software piZap, which has been featured a few times on the blog.

For those among my friends, family and supporting bloggers who are following me (and being followed by yours truly) on Twitter, you may have noticed the current header image of two tower blocks (apartment complexes) and dawn-tinged cirrus clouds which also is used as the header image for the Half-Eaten Mind. This has been a feature of my personal profile since I set it up in 2012.

With the help of piZap, I have reworked this image and added some text to help promote the blog. I wanted to keep a connection going on between HEM and my Twitter feed, as I post all of our articles and blog updates on Twitter, usually straight after publication.

The old image was not even shown in its entirety but was only a close-up of the blocks of flats, which was blurred/makeshift and failed to do the original photo any suitable justice. The new header shows the photo in all its glory, layered subtly with a ‘grainy’ effect resembling the surface of high-quality paper under a magnifying glass.

I got the idea for the new header design from observing Twitter accounts belonging to companies like the BBC and Tesco, who highly depend on branding for their official pages on the social micro-blogging site. I also recently received a glut of followers from the Middle East, many of whom had snazzy header images with their Twitter handles and slogans.

Here is the header image in its raw state:

Apart from updates and links to new articles from the Half-Eaten Mind, I also tweet some personal stuff, links to news articles from other media outlets and fellow blogging enthusiasts, and the occasional quote of significance.

    1. It is…my god, I have taken to it like a duck to water….now the next stage is to find something akin to Photoshop. We are going to take things up a level.
